Artist's statement:

As a ballet dancer I would wake up every day with a deep inner happiness and eagerness to dance. I thought if everyone danced, the whole world would be happy. When I could no longer dance I didn't find the satisfaction again until painting came to me.

My work is abstract, multi-layered, heavily textured, and anchored in patterns, surfaces, and patinas. Often I incorporate calligraphy to express personal philosophy. I combine elements from old cultures with high-tech influences of the contemporary world.

The greatest inspirational source is nature. I see everything in patterns and translate a fresh ploughed field or an old barn into an abstract composition. Pattern is an integral part of my compositions. It invites meditation. Creative process is a force in my daily life. It is my teacher, and grows as I grow in faith, endurance, courage, release, and sharing.

A painting is never really resolved, but always leads to the next one. It is a wonderful, adventurous, and continuing process; no sooner do I feel I have arrived, as I will start all over again.
