Artist's statement:

Steve Epstein is a native of Oakland. He was introduced to photography by the renowned photographer and teacher, Dorothy Mayers. He began his career as a sideline photographer for the Oakland Raiders in 1968 and became interested in chronicling rock acts of that era. His area of interest has always been in related fields of the visual arts. Steve received his BA in Broadcast Communications and became an animator for ABC in the 80's. His interest in photography expanded greatly with the advent of digital tools and he has been regarded in the design and advertising communities as a Photoshop hero.

In the past six years, Steve has been actively developing as a fine art landscape photographer. His portfolio is directed towards the spare and isolated images that converge in nature. "Success," he states, "is when I can get my eleven year old daughter to say, 'Dad, that picture's kinda creepy.'"
