Project Sha-Do

When I first became interested in String Theory and saw how the math was resolved with the addition of more dimensions than the ones we know, I had a feeling of discomfort. Upon reflection I saw that one dimension, two dimensions-the ones we know- were not real but concepts and tools we use for communicating, making things or understanding the universe. How could we have more of things that don't exist in the first place.

Then I thought about Shadow-a two dimensional thing and perhaps the only two dimensional thing in human experience-and I thought if I took a look at my shadow through photographic images, I could better understand this. Where Abbott's book Flatland considered two dimensional life through words and humor, these photographs of my shadow are how I did appear once and how I might appear to a being that lives in a two dimensional world.
