Artist Statement
We live on the edge of a giant, writhing mass of life that continues to pump gobs of much needed oxygen into the air we breath! In light of recent heart-breaking events, I have been motivated more than ever to pay homage to the ocean and humbly invite us all to take a closer look. Throughout my life, I found it difficult to choose whether to pursue art or science. This was especially true when I turned my attention onto the oceans. The things that inspired me to study the details seemed like magic: The way things survive and evolve in such deep, cold, harsh darkness. And from that mysterious abyss, we witness life with endless colors, strange ways to hide, find mates and catch prey. Try as I might, there seems to be no end to inspiring subject matter.

My admiration of the sea has steered me through a degree in Marine Biology and a graduate certificate in Science Illustration. I work as a full time studio artist, freelance illustrator and muralist hoping to bring attention to marine subjects as art and promote conservation of the world's oceans.
